Allison Transmission holds a world – leading position in the field of commercial vehicle automatic transmissions and hybrid systems. In 1915, Allison Racing Company was founded. Since then, it has undergone numerous changes. In 1929, it was acquired by General Motors and became a division of General Motors in 1934. The Transmission Engineering Department was established in 1945, and in 1948, the first transmission with a torque converter was developed. In 1988, Allison Transmission Division was established. In 2007, it was jointly acquired by The Carlyle Group/Onex Corporation, and Allison Transmission, Inc. was officially established. In the same year, the five – millionth transmission was produced. Allison’s business is extensive and in – depth. It designs, manufactures, and sells various commercial vehicle automatic transmissions and hybrid systems, covering on – highway, off – highway, and military vehicle sectors. Its headquarters and manufacturing center are located in Indianapolis, the capital of Indiana, USA. The main plant area is large, with multiple factory sites covering a total area of over 3.2 million square feet. Meanwhile, assembly and inspection centers, spare parts centers, and product modification centers are set up on every continent around the world, such as in Brazil, Hungary, the Netherlands, Shanghai in China, etc. A new factory is also under construction in Chennai, India. Its products are sold globally. The sales distribution in 2008 shows that North America accounted for 84%, Europe 11%, and the Asia – Pacific region 5%, etc.

In terms of products, Allison has a rich product line of transmissions. The 1000/2000 Series is suitable for vehicles with a GVW ≤ 15 tons, 300 HP, and 810 N.m; the 3000 Series is produced in Indianapolis and the Szentgotthard plant in Hungary, with a power of 425 HP and a torque of 1695 N.m; the 4000 Series is also produced in these two places, with 680 HP and 2644 N.m; the T Series has up to 6 forward gears, with an optional retarder, 500 HP, and 2067 N.m, suitable for various bus models. Off – highway products such as the 5, 6, 8, & 9000 Series are suitable for vehicle – mounted, fixed equipment, and mining and oil – field equipment, meeting the requirements of different working conditions.

Allison transmissions have many advantages. In terms of performance, they can improve production efficiency and fuel efficiency, have better starting and acceleration capabilities, provide higher vehicle speeds and average speeds, are easy to operate, have low requirements for driver skills, and are convenient for maintenance, with a pre – diagnosis function to monitor the transmission status. In terms of quality, with over 63 years of design and production experience, continuous R & D investment, and continuous product improvement, the reliability and durability of the products are improved, and the vehicle failure rate is reduced. In terms of after – sales service, 1,552 authorized agents and service stations around the world provide strong support. Depending on the vehicle’s use, a warranty period of up to five years is provided, and an extended warranty service can also be purchased. A team of skilled application engineers is always ready to help. In terms of safety, it ensures driver safety, reduces driving stress and fatigue, and the vehicle has a fault diagnosis function with strong passability on rough roads. From the perspective of return on investment, due to good fuel efficiency, acceleration performance, etc., its products can reduce operating and vehicle usage costs and improve vehicle integrity and attendance.
